The Night We Met by Abby Jimenez (Forever, LJ starred review) is the top holds title of the week. LibraryReads and Library Journal offer read-alikes for patrons waiting to read this buzziest book.
The night they met, Larissa needed a ride home, and Chris had been dragged to a concert by his worried friends. That night he wanted to be the one to take Larissa home, but instead she rode with his best friend, Mike. Now, a few months later, Larissa and Mike are dating, and Chris is trying very hard not to like his best friend’s girlfriend more than he should. When Mike starts asking Chris to do favors for Larissa (favors Mike promised to do himself), Chris is forced to spend time with the one woman he can’t love. He’s also sure Larissa doesn’t know Mike’s secrets or why her boyfriend isn’t the one showing up for her. The dialogue in this contemporary romance is well-written, the protagonists are fully developed, and the realistic storyline is empathetic. VERDICT In turns heart-wrenching and humorous, tear-jerking and laughter-inducing, Jimenez’s (Say You’ll Remember Me) latest is unputdownable until the inevitable, but seemingly impossible, HEA. Highly recommended for all collections.—Heather Miller Cover

After he convinces her to work with him, the press gets involved, and they decide to pretend to be a couple.
