APR 2026 [spreadsheet] [Edelweiss collection] Early spring brings with it an abundance of pop fiction that is sure to be in high demand. Jessica George gets a 150K-copy first printing for Love by the Book (St. Martin’s), Xochitl Gonzalez returns with a 200K-copy first printing for Last Night in Brooklyn (Flatiron), Rainbow Rowell gets a 150K-copy first printing for Cherry Baby (Morrow), Maria Semple is back with Go Gentle (Putnam), Tom Perrotta publishes Ghost Town (Scribner), and Jesse Q. Sutanto returns with Ms. Mebel Goes Back to the Chopping Block (Berkley). Lastly, in American Fantasy (Riverhead), Emma Straub puts the members of a famous ’90s boy band and about 3,000 of their longtime fans on a cruise ship, sailing for four days. What could happen? Maybe some connection, friendship, and fresh starts.

Nonfiction offers a range of subjects, beginning with the self-help title Joyful, Anyway (Dial) by Kate Bowler, which is a book about the many feelings that come with living, navigating out of loss, being lost, and wanting something, anything, to feel right. Art history brings Vermeer: A Life Lost and Found (Norton) by Andrew Graham-Dixon. In sports, there is Susie Wolff’s Driven (Holt), an account of women in F1 racing. Two celebrity memoirs are also on the list: I Choose Me: Chasing Joy, Finding Purpose & Embracing Reinvention (Park Row) by Jennie Garth and Famesick (Random) by Lena Dunham.

Cozy fantasy readers will have a good month, with a host of charm, tea, and magical creatures on the list. Cheri Radke’s An Accident of Dragons (Erewhon) features those winged beasties, pirates, tea, and a lord who can flirt his way out of any problem—until now. In Meg Shaffer’s The Book Witch (Ballantine), the trick to solving problems is to jump in and out of books with a magical umbrella and a feline familiar. Amy Coombe features books as well in Stay for a Spell (Ace), about a princess who gets her wish to be left alone to read. In Death Meets Cute (Poisoned Pen) by J. Penner, a villainess in want of an enforcer gets instead a half-orc baker who is just flat out charming, while in Thistlemarsh (Berkley) by Moorea Corrigan, a faerie bargain conjures delicious magic. 

Wrapping up the month, there are a number of books with big print runs to note: Nikki St. Crowe, West of Wicked (Bramble), and TJ Klune, We Burned So Bright (Tor), both net 500K-copy first printings. The Ending Writes Itself (Harper) by Evelyn Clarke is being billed as a debut but is really a collaboration between Cat Clarke and V. E. Schwab; they get a run of 250K for their mystery about authors caught in a locked-room thriller. The Girls Trip (Grand Central) by Ally Condie takes off at 225K, and Jordan Stephanie Gray debuts with 200K copies for The Wicked Sea (Requited), a romantasy featuring a mermaid and a warlock.
